A good coach will support you in taking charge and growing in the direction you want. They know you can make choices and solve problems on your own. Your coach will focus on finding solutions and moving forward, not just talking about problems. They’ll also work with others who support you to make sure they know how to help you best. And together, you’ll create a plan for when things aren’t going so well, so you can get the support you need in a way that suits you.

Recovery coaching is distinct from support coordination or support work. Like support coordinators, recovery coaches are well-versed in the NDIS and its price guide, foster community connections, and assist in achieving NDIS goals. Moreover, they can aid with NDIS reviews, establishing supports, problem-solving, and handling unexpected situations.

However, what sets recovery coaches apart is their role as recovery practitioners. They possess specialized knowledge, skills, and experience in supporting individuals with psychosocial disability and mental illness. Their focus is on empowering people to lead fulfilling lives, transcending the limitations of their diagnosis.

If you’re looking for an NDIS recovery coach, ask them about their experience and qualifications. You want to make sure they have the skills to support you well. The minimum qualifications you should expect are a Certificate IV in Mental Health or Mental Health Peer Work and at least 2 years of relevant work experience. But it’s not just about the training; it’s also important to feel that they are the right coach for you and that you have a good connection with them.
Starting from July 2022, the standard hourly rate for NDIS recovery coaching in metropolitan areas is $93.34. If you don’t have an NDIS plan but are interested in benefiting from the expertise of our qualified and experienced staff, please contact our customer success team for additional details.
Referrals for an NDIS psychosocial recovery coach across Australia can come from family, friends, and colleagues, or you may find one online. It’s crucial to evaluate the credentials of the recovery coach and ensure you feel comfortable with them. At Goal Coach, we offer psychosocial recovery coaching and are currently accepting new clients. Our team is led by nationally recognized experts in NDIS mental health.

Individuals with NDIS plans have the choice to work with coaches who have either learned experience or lived experience. Coaches with lived experience are commonly known as peer coaches. These are individuals who openly acknowledge and utilize their personal journey of mental illness and recovery as part of their work.

Professional Peers serve as powerful role models of hope and demonstrate that successful recovery is possible. They can walk alongside people and offer unique expertise when setting recovery goals. Their approach is rooted in the principles of peer work practice, which provides guidance on how to effectively and safely draw on their own experiences to foster hope, encourage self-management, and support others on their recovery journey.
